The program package works with models of Muschelknautz of the VDI Heat Atlas and with calculation approaches of Loeffler and Buerkholz.
The calculation model divides the particle separation process in four separation areas to meet the individual requirements for the chracteristics of these areas. Several standard cyclone types like cyclones with axial, spiral or tangential inlet can be designed.
Program featuresAfter input of the geometrical data, gas and particle fraction and the particle characteristics, the program calculates the pressure drop and the separation efficiency. Detailed calculations inform the user about the separation efficiency and the pressure drops in the individual cyclone areas. If the geometrical data are yet unknown (design of a new cyclone), the geometry can be optimised by means of using the standard ATLAS program features to meet the demanded requirements. |

The user can choose between the different published approaches, which do not differ much in separation efficiency for low particle mass fraction but diverge significantly with high particle mass fractions. For high particle mass fractions, we have added another calculation model.
