If pressure vessels are built on bracket supports, locally varying stresses have to be expected in the region of the connection between bracket support and vessel wall, for the bracket support itself and the anchorage in the foundation. Wind loads, dead loads as well as other external forces and moments must be taken into account besides the pressurizing.
The general stability proof of vessels with bracket supports can be performed with the module S3.4. Furthermore, the calculation of vessel walls can generally be used for the assessment of additional forces on vessel walls without openings. At the bracket support, the support plate, ligament plate and plate stiffener are calculated. The required root diameter for the anchorage bolts is determined.

Additionally to S3.4 you may want to use the PRAT module. This module calculates geometrical values for support brackets, which are used in AD-Merkblatt S3/4. The association of the mentioned bracket size to the process equipment diameter depends on bracket load, stability and strength of the equipment wall.
