Cylindrical shells (B6)

Cylindrical shells under external overpressure

Module B6

Fundamentals:

Cylindrical shells under external pressure can fail by plastic deformation or by elastic instability. In contrast to the failure by internal pressure, the cylinder length and the deviation from the circular shape have an influence too. The calculation against stability failure can be simplified for tubes in form of a limit case of infinitely long cylinders. Stiffening rings can be attached at long thin-walled cylinders.

Program features:

With the module B6 the allowable external pressure can be calculated against elastic instability and plastic deformation. The simplified calculation for tubes is contained. Furthermore, the stiffening rings can be dimensioned.

Price: 620 EUR plus VAT

Calculations can be performed with the Euronorm modules SUIP and SUEP as well.
