Cylindrical shells under external overpressure according to TRD 306
306 module
Fundamentals:
Cylindrical shells under external overpressure must be save against plastic deformation as well as elastic buckling. The proof is based on the allowable external overpressure, whereat for plain generator lines the buckling pressure depends also on the number of buckles.
Program features:
- Simplified proof of infinitely long tubes.
- Proof of plain cylindrical shells: The buckling pressure is calculated for 6 buckles about the estimated number. The smallest allowable overpressure is presented together with the corresponding number of buckles.
- Proof of corrugated cylindrical shells: The data of the tables 2 - 4 are integrated for the models by Fox and Morison.
- Iterative determination of the required wall thickness.
- Consideration of the temperature coefficient for flame tubes as function of the wall thickness.
- Proof of reinforcement rings.
