In cylindrical, conical or spherical shells openings for nozzles, manholes, etc. are required. These openings weaken the walls. Great stresses can appear near the openings.
To decrease these stresses, reinforcement can be used. These reinforcement might be plates or rings.
The LV program EN09 is based on the chapter 9 of the EN 13445-3. It is applicable for the design of circular, elliptical or obround openings in dished ends or cylindrical, conical or spherical shells under external or internal pressure.
The program also designs openings, nozzles and reinforcing plates in dished ends which are completely located inside the central area limited by a radius of 0,4 De. For Nozzles in knuckle regions, the program provides a special calculation feature.
