Horizontal vessels on saddles are subjected to locally varying stresses. According to the AD-Merkblatt S3.2, the strength proofs can be performed for a girth angle of 120° and more, referring to British Standard 5500, appendix G and A.
The module S3.2 determines the longitudinal, circumferential, and shear stresses in the critical cross section of horizontal vessels on saddles. The vessel can be reinforced by internal or external support rings or built on a support ring with saddles. The EN 16.14 module (global loads on cylindrical shells) is delivered as supplement.
