Contents of the module AUZY is the design of openings and branches of cylindrical shells according to section 8 of EN 12952-3, May 2002. The user can calculate single or adjacent openings with vertical or oblique nozzles. If the distance of adjacent openings is larger than the characteristic support length, a calculation as single openings is allowable. Otherwise, the material area of both nozzles in an axial and radial cross section must balance the weakening of the opening.
The user can select among seven construction types and view illustrations of the geometrical input values as well as an overview of the calculation fundamentals with a HTML-Browser. The program calculates the required wall thickness for the cylindrical shell and the nozzle, respectively, and the allowable internal pressure. The material strength values and corresponding safety factors are extracted from a material data base and the allowable stress is calculated according to section 6 of EN 12952-3
