Fundamentals:

In industrial filters or in packed columns, support plates are installed for the filtering medium or for the packing. Normally, high perforated flat plates are used, which can be equipped with support feet or hanger rods depending on the diameter. Besides the weight load, these plates are additionally loaded by an overpressure, which is derived from the pressure loss. A corresponding calculation procedure is not covered by codes like AD, TRD or ASME, but can be derived from the calculation methods published there.
