Fundamentals:

Compared with a straight cylinder of the same wall thickness, the stress for pipe elbows is larger inside of bend and smaller outside of bend. Therefore, pipes with variable wall thickness are permitted.

Appendix 2 of TRD-301 contains the formulas for the calculation of the required wall thickness and the resulting stress.

Program features:

With the BOG module pipe elbows with variable wall thickness can be designed. The radius of curvature can be related to the inner or outer diameter. Furthermore, it is possible to prove elbows with the same wall thickness in accordance with DIN 2605 (3-d) and DIN 2606 (5-d). The corresponding tables are integrated in the module.
