TEB module Fundamentals:Tube sheets of heat exchangers must be designed for bending and shearing. For bolted tube sheets, the flange hub has to support the flange bolt moment. With the additional module TEM, a tube sheet also can be loaded by different thermal expansions of tubes and shell, respectively, or by the flange moment of the bolting. |

The standards of the Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association include regulations, which can be used to calculate the required wall thickness for the effective design pressure.
According to the regulations for the determination of the design pressure, five different head types are available:
For each type the required plate thickness for bending and shearing can be determined, as well as the required wall thickness of a flange hub.
With the module TEB1, the required wall thickness for mutually free movable heat exchanger tube sheets without flange moments can be determined.
