The calculation of the evaporation in vertical tubes is based on an incremental calculation procedure. For each increment the local heat flux, flow regime and pressure drop are determined.
The physical dimensions may be user-supplied or taken from standard tables. The tube sheet is generated precisely, with the possibility to be edited.
The properties are supplied in separate property modules. The basic program package contains modules for properties for water and ammonia. Modules for other fluids are available on request.
Design of double-pipe heat exchangers
VERD has been extended by the evaporation in double-pipe heat exchangers. Geometrical data for the inside and outside pipe (outside diameter and wall thickness) are read from files, which can be managed and ed-ited by the user.
Evaporation and condensation of carbon dioxide - CO2
The properties for evaporation and condensation of carbon dioxide have been added to VERD.
Our properties program PROPER has been revised concerning the integration in VERD. Condensation of pure sub-stances with PROPER is now possible with VERD.
The VERD program is based on the theory published in the LV Heat Atlas and in several academic research papers.
